Staying hydrated is not just essential for humans, but also for dogs too. Sports drinks like Gatorade are a popular alternative to water and contain electrolytes like sodium and potassium. This makes Gatorade a good option for any person who needs to replenish vital fluids.

But what about dogs?

Can Dogs Drink Gatorade?

Can dogs drink Gatorade? Yes. But, the only fluid your dog’s body needs to stay hydrated is water.

A little Gatorade is fine, but Gatorade has added sugar and sodium, which should be limited in any diet.

If your dog has diarrhea, Gatorade can help replenish fluids but Pedialyte is a better choice.

How to Give Your Dog Gatorade

It’s best not to give your dog straight Gatorade. Instead, mix it with water in a 50/50 ratio. This will give your dog sufficient nutrients while limiting sodium and sugar intake.

Make sure to introduce the fluid a few sips at a time. Letting your dog drink a full bowl in a short duration of time could result in an upset stomach and ultimately your dog will vomit the fluid up.
