As dog owners, one of our primary concerns is the health of our dogs. Most of us don’t own one of the healthiest dog breeds, and unfortunately, some diseases and conditions are hereditary. If you’re buying a purebred, then finding a reliable breeder who tests their dogs for health problems removes much of the concern. However, if you’re looking for a healthy rescue dog, it isn’t possible to know who their siblings or parents were.

Fortunately, many healthy dog breeds that don’t have genetic conditions exist. While it may not be guaranteed that your dog will live to an older age, purebred enthusiasts may have some luck with the following healthiest dog breeds.
